Types of Braces

Metallic Braces

These are pre-adjusted metal brackets that are fixed to the teeth to gradually align them. They are the most common and traditional type of braces, known for their strength and effectiveness.

Ceramic Braces

Similar to metal braces in function, ceramic braces use tooth-colored brackets made from a translucent material, making them less noticeable. Nowadays, tooth-colored (white) wires are also available, enhancing their discreet appearance.

Self-Ligating Braces

Designed to reduce treatment time, self-ligating braces use a special clip mechanism instead of elastic bands to hold the archwire in place. This reduces friction and allows teeth to move faster, often resulting in shorter overall treatment duration.

Lingual Braces

These braces are attached to the inner side of the teeth, making them completely invisible from the outside. However, because they sit close to the tongue, some patients may experience mild discomfort or difficulty while speaking and eating.

Removable Plates/Clips

These are orthodontic appliances that patients can remove themselves. They are often used as adjunctive devices before or after fixed braces and are effective in guiding jaw growth and minor tooth movements.
